bliss
got back late last night from 8 solid days on maui, plus 2 solid travel days to and from. inspired by an old picture of me and my beloved big wheel bike, i decided to spend the month of august looking for daily moments of bliss. have been successful so far, and my heart feels lighter for the effort. i'm chronicling the daily moments of bliss on my facebook page. will likely make a digital story about them when august is over. so far, by day -
1) first post-tumorfest sand
2) a lovely and tasty bowl of tropical oatmeal
3) reading a great book under an enormous banyon tree in downtown lahaina
4) an afternoon nap near the ocean under a shady tree
5) reading the same great book on the most incredible bench i have ever experienced
6) first post-tumorfest pool expedition followed by an outdoor, afternoon nap
7) being alive (august 7, 2010 was the 1-year anniversary of my first brain surgery. over that night, i had my nearly-disasterous complications - so august 7th is my new year's eve. please celebrate in whatever way you prefer.)
8) waking up loving the phoenix tattoo i got on my NYE. had my surgery in phoenix - the symbolism was too perfect to pass up.
9) sleeping in my own bed.
wow - a lot of sleeping-related stuff. rest is good. i work hard. managed to move a lot of things from the fear column to the fear less column in 9 days. and had some serious fun doing it. showed my brain some pretty amazing things. feel tired (travel comes from the french word for work), but less fragile.
