today i spent time looking at old friends in new ways. this afternoon i had lunch with a friend from elementary school, and a friend i made after i moved away from the town where i went to elementary school. both are excellent people, and i enjoyed the collision of two worlds. i loved seeing them together. i got to laugh a lot.

i started the day by having coffee with a friend from middle school and high school. i met her young son for the first time. i've spent time with this friend since she became a mother, but had never seen her in action. she was funny, caring, sweet - it felt just right. her son was great. inquisitive and funny and kind. lots like his mom.
